Ride to the Capitol
We continue to dominate the East Coast megalopolis; first in Boston, then Philly and now our Nation’s Capitol of Washington, D.C. Just in time for the busy tourist season and Presidential election, we have tagged D.C. with nearly 150 spots and a dozen locations in the central city. We have also taken it a step further and included a dozen biker businesses in the surrounding area.
D.C., like many of our cities, has started off strong with a pilot program to entice more motorbiking on its packed streets. The city is known to swell during the daytime hours, doubling its population to nearly one million people so its good to see them promoting riding. We haven’t been able to dig up much information on the program, but did stumble across a lot of internet chatter including a letter from Ellen Jones, Director of Infrastructure & Sustainability at the DC Downtown Business Improvement District, urging the Dept. of Transportation to create more parking areas for motorbikes. She has been trying to promote the expansion of the motorbike parking program for years and we support her. D.C. is off to a great start, but needs to quickly add more locations to keep up with demand.
We could not have launched in D.C. with out the stellar help of our new Sensei of Biz Dev, Jessica Towhey who happens to live right in D.C. Jessica joined the team when she realized the pains of motorbike parking when riding around the Capitol and discovered us when doing research on how to fix her dilemma. We happy to have Jessica on board to help mange CurbNinja on the east coast!
