We’re Parking up to Boston
Back in 2010 the City of Boston embarked on a mission to reduce the city’s traffic and carbon footprint by creating a motorbike parking program, and today we happy to announce that we have it all mapped out! We’ve tagged 70 spots from Back Bay to Waterfront at 20 locations and put them right in our app.
Boston has followed suit with other cities in providing metered parking for bikers with the highest concentration in the Back Bay where the city initially tested the program. Spots are clearly marked with painted lines perpendicular to the curb with individual meters to pay. Some meters are $1.25/hr, but newer spots downtown run $0.25/hr.
Our only recommendation for Boston is to create more spots! Especially downtown where parking is scarce. The program was piloted by the city five years ago without much growth since. The city needs to pick up the ball and create more spaces, but they have vision and are off to a great start.
